About Jarrah tree Music

Whether you're looking for yourself or your child, no matter your past musical experience, you've found a very open, friendly environment in which to make your journey. The tragedy that I often see is teachers heavily focusing solely on raw intonation and rhythm, as well as avoiding all forms of practical aural and theory skills, which results in students adapting and ingraining techniques that sets them up for a path of progress with much greater resistance and difficulty. My goal as a teacher is to naturally weave strong technical grounding into your playing as you learn, which naturally results in an improvement in intonation, tone, rhythm, and far greater ease of play. I also incorporate bite-sized practical, and comprehensible applications of music theory and aural skills into the learning process, which will naturally raise your understanding of music as a whole, as well as open doors that permit you to approach your pieces in new, useful, and effective ways that you wouldn't be able to otherwise.

My experience: I'm an AMUS-level cellist and am currently doing a double major in music at the UWA Conservatorium of music, currently being taught by the well-respected Dr Suzanne Wijsman. I've been playing music for 15 years and the cello for 11. Currently, I am a member of the West Australian Youth Orchestra (WAYO). If you do wish to take a step into music with me or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
